Honey Garlic Chicken

Honey garlic chicken is an easy midweek dinner that kids tend to eat without fuss. Cook the thighs skin-side down first so the skin goes golden, then let the honey, soy, garlic and ginger reduce into a sticky glaze. Scatter sesame seeds on top and serve with rice.

Ingredients

Makes 4 servings

  • 700g Chicken thighs
  • 80g Honey
  • 60ml Soy sauce
  • 6½ garlic cloves
  • 20g Ginger
  • 12g Sesame seeds

Method

  1. Mix honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger in a small bowl.
  2. Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Cook chicken thighs skin-side down 6–7 minutes until golden, flip and cook 4 more minutes.
  3. Pour honey garlic sauce over chicken and simmer 3–4 minutes, basting until sauce thickens and chicken is coated.
  4. Scatter with sesame seeds and season to taste. Serve with steamed rice and vegetables.
