Beef Kofta with Yoghurt

Kofta is a good midweek dinner that cooks fast under the grill. Grate the onion rather than chop it so it works through the mince and keeps it moist, then shape the koftas and grill them turning once. Serve with the yoghurt for dipping and some flatbread.

Ingredients

Makes 4 servings

  • 680g Beef mince
  • 240g Greek yoghurt
  • 12g Ground cumin
  • 12g Ground coriander
  • 160g Brown onion
  • 20g Fresh coriander
  • 3 garlic cloves

Method

  1. Grate onion and mince garlic. Mix with beef mince, cumin, ground coriander, salt and pepper. Shape into 8 oval koftas.
  2. Cook koftas under a hot grill or on a hob griddle for 3–4 minutes per side until cooked through.
  3. Season yoghurt with salt and a squeeze of lemon. Spread on plates.
  4. Place koftas on yoghurt and scatter over fresh coriander. Serve with salad (or flatbread if not gluten-free).
