Tahini Date Porridge

This porridge is a bit more interesting than the usual bowl of oats. The tahini makes it creamy and the dates melt in and sweeten it without any sugar. Stir them both in near the end so the dates go soft.

Ingredients

Makes 4 servings

  • 320g Rolled oats
  • 1.2L Water
  • 80g Tahini
  • 160g Medjool dates
  • 8g Cinnamon
  • Salt, to taste

Method

  1. Pit and roughly chop dates. Cook oats in water with salt and cinnamon over medium heat, stirring for 6–8 minutes.
  2. Stir in tahini and dates in the last minute of cooking.
  3. Spoon into bowls. Taste — add a little extra tahini for nuttiness or a splash of water if too thick.
