Apple and Cinnamon Crumble
Apple crumble is the dessert you make when the fruit bowl is getting away on you. Toss the apples with lemon and a little sugar, then rub cold butter through the flour and oats until it looks like coarse breadcrumbs. Serve it hot with custard or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Ingredients
Makes 7 servings
- 843g Apples
- 190g Plain flour
- 105g Rolled oats
- 127g Butter
- 127g Brown sugar
- 8g Cinnamon
- 21ml Lemon juice
Method
- Preheat oven to 180°C. Peel, core and slice apples. Toss with lemon juice, a tablespoon of the brown sugar and half the cinnamon, then arrange in a greased baking dish.
- Rub cold butter into flour, oats, remaining brown sugar and cinnamon until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs.
- Scatter crumble evenly over the apples and press down lightly.
- Bake 35–40 minutes until golden and bubbling. Serve warm with custard or ice cream.
